The Wall
14” x 17” drawing paper on Native soil
2017-2019
20’ L x 15” H

This project encompasses years from a research/development phase, experimentation with materials and form, location scouting and installation, and finally to the photograph. With each step, it has grown in significance as I work to shape the future of the world for my kids and grandkids.

Constructed of medium weight drawing paper, this work reflects on a disturbing trend that has gripped the world. Ideas as ancient as civilization have been blown out of proportion by sensational online media coverage, exacerbated by man-made catastrophes, fueling populist movements that are the driving force behind crimes against humanity. In this country, this movement has shed a light on a dark period in history.

With the exception of the Native people of The Americas, all Americans are immigrants. As such, every American should reflect on their lives, histories, and the legacy they will leave behind.

Therein lies the greatness.
